Festival Venue
The Marrakech English Book Festival is a locally organised festival with an international outlook. We partner with local cultural and arts organisations to host the festival in venues of outstanding historical and cultural importance.
About the Venue
Our venue for the first two days of the festival, Thursday 15th and Friday 16th January, will be the Riad el Bacha, a beautiful, traditionally built dar in the heart of Marrakech, combining traditional Moroccan architecture with modern amenities. Riad el Bacha is the modern incarnation of the 16th century Dar Cherifa, where we held a day of events in the first edition of the festival in 2022. The venue has vehicle access and many onsite amenities and will host the festival book market.
Events on Sunday 17th January will be hosted by our regular partner,the Dar Bellarj Foundation, located in the oldest historical quarter of the Medina, next to the Medersa Ben Youssef. Dar Bellarj will also be the venue for our children’s programme of events.
The venues, with their blend of indoor and outdoor spaces, provide the perfect backdrops for three days of literary discovery and cultural exchange.
